1 of 55 Black 1967 Shelbys - The "Container" Car

Completed 12/8/66, shipped 12/13/1966 to Ron Tonkin Ford Sales (Portland, OR). Purchased 12/31/67 by Dale Newton (Ashland, OR). #117 was owned by the Newton family and stored in a Sea-Land Container until it was discovered in unrestored condition in the early 2000s.

Raven Black was intended as a Hertz-only color in 1967, but when the program did not materialize, the Black cars (52 GT350s & 3 GT500s) ordered by Shelby were completed and the color discontinued.

#117 retains it's unique early production features including upper scoop lights, metal framed hood/decklid and short-tab steering wheel. It now resides in the private collection of 2S Motorcars and has been treated to a minor cosmetic and mechanical refresh.
